The Indiana University Policy on Intellectual Property covers the following subjects:
- Categories of Covered Intellectual Property
- Revenue Distribution

In general, patentable work is vested in the university. Copyrighted works are divided into two categories: Traditional Works of Scholarship, the rights for which remain with the creator of the work, and University Works, to which Indiana University retains ownership.
