FEATURES
A commercial360 degree rotating gantry has a hazardous cavity for radiation technologists and nurses working in the area. Horizontal, pneumatically actuated, retractable floor plates aligned with the treatment room permanent floor are designed to cover this cavity and automatically retract to allow equipment on the rotating gantry to pass through the floor during rotation. The floor plates are retracted and repositioned automatically during gantry rotation so that only the floor plates needed to allow equipment passage through the floor are retracted, leaving virtually no cavity for clinic personnel to trip over or fall into. This design permits required access to proton therapy patients during patient positioning and treatment as needed by clinic personnel. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
